Creating the right climate
When beginning a Creative Thinking Workshop, it is important to take some time to create the right climate. The most important objective is to provide reassurance – that participants are not going to be embarrassed or made to feel stupid.
Many people feel unsure of and insecure about their ability to think creatively, and fear that they may be ‘shown up’ in a group, particularly a group which may include their colleagues. Creating a relaxed atmosphere, offering solid reassurance, and encouraging a light-hearted feel to the session, including prompting laughter, movement, and talking, goes a long way to allay such fears.
